When you think of business finances, you think of a stuffy board room, right? Or maybe a boring financial report?

Okay, our financial reports may still kind of bore you, but my interpretation of the reports certainly will not be. Because here at Dogwood Digital Bookkeeping we are passionate about helping small creative businesses with their bookkeeping needs so they can plan for the big picture and grow their profit.

There’s nothing boring about that.

Hi there! I’m Ginna* the owner of Dogwood Digital Bookkeeping.

I serve small-to mid-size small businesses and am passionate about helping business owners get their finances in order so that they can grow their profit and take back their time.

*My name is pronounced “Gin-na” — it is short for Virginia!

A little bit about me:

I have been a financial nerd since I was a teenager and first learned about compound interest (seriously though, how cool is compound interest?).

For seven years, I ran a successful personal financial blog called My Pretty Pennies, and was a personal finance coach with my church, helping individuals get out of debt and save for the future.

In 2017, after my second daughter was born, I quit my corporate job as a website manager and started a freelance marketing business and fell in love with owning my own business, paying myself, and growing a profit.

Over the last few years I discovered a lot of my peers are like me: creating a business from a passion project, but they were frustrated with the finances and super stressed at the dreaded Tax Time. They didn’t know how to pay themselves, how to set aside money for taxes, and how to read (or even pull) financial reports.

Basically, I learned that not everyone loves numbers! Since then, I decided to dedicate my time to help others with their business finances.

Hearing about your business (and personal!) goals and working with you on how to achieve those is my business goal.

I live in Durham, NC, with my husband, two biological daughters, and golden pup.
